What affects the price
- The type of boiler — combi, system or regular, and whether you are changing from one to another
- Output and size — larger homes with more radiators and bathrooms need a more powerful boiler
- The brand and model — and the length of the manufacturer’s warranty that comes with it
- Where it goes — swapping in the same place is simpler than moving the boiler to a new room
- The flue — the route and length of the flue, and whether it needs extensions or a different position
- Pipework — how much new or altered pipework is needed, including gas, water and heating pipes
- Controls — a basic thermostat is cheaper than smart or multi-zone controls
- System protection — cleaning the existing system and fitting a magnetic filter and inhibitor
- Removal of the old boiler and any extra work to make the new installation compliant
Why the cheapest quote is not always the best
A very low price can mean corners are cut: a cheaper boiler, no system cleaning, a poor flue route, or extras that are added later. Look at what is actually included, and compare like with like.
Questions to ask any installer
- Is the engineer Gas Safe registered? Ask to see their ID.
- Exactly which boiler (make, model, output) are you quoting for, and why?
- What is the manufacturer’s warranty, and what does it require, such as an annual service?
- Does the price include removal of the old boiler, a new flue, controls and system protection?
- Will the system be cleaned, and will a filter be fitted?
- How long will the job take, and how long will I be without heating and hot water?
- Is the installer insured?
- Will I get the paperwork, commissioning record and warranty details?
How JR quotes
We give you a free, no-obligation quote with the cost broken down, so you can see what you are paying for. We look at your home, talk through your options and recommend what makes sense, not simply the most expensive boiler. See our boiler installation page, or call 07377 869384.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a new boiler cost?
It varies a lot depending on the boiler, the home and the work involved. A free quote is the only way to get a reliable price for your property.
Does the price include the old boiler removal?
That depends on the installer, so check the quote. Ours includes removal of your old boiler.
Is a more expensive boiler always better?
Not always. A good boiler properly sized and installed is often better than an expensive one that does not suit your home.
Should I get more than one quote?
It is sensible to compare, as long as you compare like with like: same type of boiler, same work included, and same warranty.
